Q. Why do I get a sewer bill from the Water Company?

A. Effective 1/1/98, the Town of Nantucket contracted with the Water Company to do the billing.

Q. Why does the Water Company recommend having my meter shut off when I leave for the season?

A. To prevent your service pipe between the house and meter from freezing during the winter.

Q. Is the water safe to drink?

A. Yes, the water meets or exceeds all D.E.P. and E.P.A. standards.

A. No.

Q. When can I expect to get my bill?

A. Everyone is billed monthly. If you do not receive your bill, please call the Water Company at 508-228-0022.

Q. I have just received my water bill, why is it higher than normal?

A. You may have a leak, your meter may have been misread, you may have simply used more water than normal - especially during the summer months. Customers often times are unaware of how much water they actually use. Please call the Water Company for a review of your account.
